South Gulf Cove's
Learning Garden

LEARNING GARDEN
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
A
Learning Garden (LG) volunteer comes in all shapes, sizes, knowledge level
and ability. All are interested in learning about gardening and helping to
keep the LG maintained.
For
those new to the area, the LG is located on land leased by the county to the
residents of Charlotte county, specifically South Gulf Cove. Volunteers drew
up a site plan, got a grant from the Forestry Service, and began "making"
the garden. That was approximately six years ago. Since that time,
volunteers have worked very hard to make it a place we can be proud of.
A
volunteer is not required to come to each work session or sign up for
anything they are not able or willing to do. You do what you can, when you
can. There is a core group that have volunteered for four or five years and
continue to do so. However, we really do need more help! It is a great bunch
of folks who have fun and are as much in it for the camaraderie as for
anything. Come and join us, learn with us, play with us whenever and in
whatever capacity you choose. We need and want your help.
Scheduled work days are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 8:00
a.m. We work approximately two hours. We weed, plant new things, take out
dead things, prune, trim, etc. There are two fundraisers a year -- a
spaghetti dinner in the spring and a golf tournament in the fall. These are
all things you can help with, or not. We would love to have you join us!
Please

her for details or with any questions you may have.
