The Crafty Girls were started so the ladies of South Gulf Cove could get together in a social setting to work on craft projects and meet new people. The group started in February of 1995 at the El Jobean Community Hall and discussed the possibilities of forming an active club. They had a luncheon on April 12, 1995, at the Elks Club and were asked to bring samples of their crafts. Thus began the loosely knit group who decided to participate in local events featuring crafts and to start a building fund for the South Gulf Cove Homeowners Association, Inc. (SGCHOA).

Our goals have remained constant throughout the years. We envisioned a Community Center for all members and quests of the SGCHOA in South Gulf Cove to enjoy. Through our “crafty” efforts, we were able to donate a considerable portion of the funds needed to purchase the land and build the SGCHOA Pavilion. Since the SGCHOA Pavilion was completed, we have contributed toward the purchase of picnic tables, purchased and paid for the installation of the screening, and paid the majority of the costs of bringing in the electric service. The SGCHOA Pavilion has proven to be a useful and enjoyable place to hold meetings and events. We take pride in our accomplishments.

We look forward to enhance South Gulf Cove with bigger and better projects in the years to come.

The Crafty Girls meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 12:30 at the SGCHOA Pavilion, weather permitting, otherwise the hostess of the day will hold the meeting in her home.  New members are always welcome. We charge no dues; we have no rules. All that is required is a willingness to participate in the betterment of our community. Crafty or not, come on over and join in with our activities, we can use the help.
